Ernesto Moralez

Dr. Ernesto Moralez, a distinguished Assistant Professor of Public Health and a Certified Health Education Specialist, has made significant contributions to the field of public health education. His upbringing in New Mexico has been a cornerstone in shaping his career, marked by a steadfast commitment to learning and making impactful strides in public health.

Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, his background is rich with cultural diversity. The son of a Mexican immigrant and a father who graduated in Social Work from San Jose State University, he grew up in an environment that nurtured his professional ambitions and personal values. This diverse heritage has profoundly influenced his approach to public health and education.

His educational journey began at Albuquerque Technical Institute, Central New Mexico Community College. He initially pursued Sociology at Hunter College in New York City, but his academic focus shifted upon discovering his passion for public health at New Mexico State University. This pivotal moment led him to complete a Bachelor's in Human and Community Services in 2007.

Continuing his commitment to public health, he joined the Master's program in Public Health at NMSU, earning his degree in 2009. His dedication was further highlighted during his summer internship at the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center, contributing significantly to his graduate thesis. Moralez's academic pursuits culminated in 2015 with a Ph.D. in Health and Behavioral Science from the University of Colorado-Denver.
